Project
Room Mate Aitana Hotel is located on a man made island on the Ij River, overlooking downtown Amsterdam. It is the brainchild of Dutch architects Ben Loerakker and Jan Bakers, and Spanish interior designer Tomás Alía.
The 5 star, 285 room hotel occupies an angular volume with a glass façade, which has straight cut lines at different levels. The marina in front of it features a jetty and moorings for 60 boats.
Tomás Alía’s cosmopolitan vision for the interior combines surprising, bold fusions of forms and materials, as well colourful details and cutting edge lighting. The palette consists of earthy and toasted nuances.
Solution
Kvadrat and Maharam textiles, Hallingdal 65, Star, Sunniva, Tonus, Ledger and Scuba are used on furniture throughout the building. Headboards in the bedrooms combine Divina and Waterborn in complimentary colours.
